Greetings GameJammers!
You will have noticed that there is now an API key displayed on your team pages.
This key is needed to use the new high score API. To see how to use the API, check this message.

After much deliberation and due process, the significant asset has been chosen!
You must include this image, or a variation of it, in your gamejam 0808 games. It doesn't need to be important, it just needs to be present somewhere. You can make a 3D model of it, turn it into vector art, or if you are crazy enough, you could even use it as a random seed for your AI.
Greetings gamejammers!
The gamejam schedule has been adjusted slightly. The jam will start on Friday 1st August with the release of the 'gamejam significant asset'. This will be a piece of art or sound which you should include in your game. We are doing this instead of choosing a theme.
Coding shall then proceed until August 16th, when entries should be uploaded to gamejam.org. Why August 16th? Because on that day the Nullarbor demo party is happening! Hopefully local Perth GameJammers will want to showcase their awesome games at the party!
Over the last few days I've added some useful features to gamejam.org!
Teams now have TODO lists, which can be used to organise yourself or your team!
There are also team blogs, which allow larger posts to be written. These posts are suitable for things like game design ideas, spec, rants or whatever else you might think of!
In a sentence, gamejam.org is a tool for the (fledgling) gamejam community, which enables the sharing of ideas, formation of teams and helps keep developers motivated.
What is the developer diary? The developer diary is a list of short log entries by each developer. To create a log entry, use the grey box which is located at the top right of every page. When you create a log entry, it is posted to your gamejam.org home page, the front page, and to the team page of every team which is active, and you are a member of.
Do I need to create a team? If you want to upload screen-shots or files, you will need to create a team. If you want to be a team of one, that is ok! Once you have created a team, you can invite other members to join your team. If you invite a member, or are invited to join a team, the invitation will appear on your home page.
Can I chat with other members? Yes. Click the 'who is online?' link at the top of the page. Any other members who are online will be listed, and you can chat with them directly through the web page. If you don't want people to see when you are online, you can choose to hide your online status in the settings screen.
Where can I get more help? Use the forum / support group. The link is on the front page.
It's easy to keep up with developer activity and news by subscribing to the atom feeds, which are present on front, member and team pages. You can also choose to receive batched digests of developer diaries by email, by selecting the correct box on your settings screen.
GameJam0808 is running from August 4th to August 18th.
What is GameJam? GameJam is an online event where game developers sprint to create a game or games over a two week period. Developers can form teams, or go solo. GameJam is not a competition, it is simply a way to have fun, and get enough inspiration and motivation from everyone else to create a game in a short period of time.
GameJam0808 is generally aimed at developers from Perth, Western Australia, but anyone can participate if they _really_ want to. :-) If this event is a success, more GameJams will follow!
