GJ Meetup on May 26

2009-05-20 13:51:27.922086

LetsMakeGames.org will be running a social event on Tuesday the 26th at the Brass Monkey.

It's called "Show Us Your Bits" and will have a very similar format to the event last April. We'd love to have teams from GameJam come in to showcase their recent work and talk about their experience making a game (even if it didn't get done!), as well as anyone else with personal projects. Even if you don't have anything to show off, it's a great chance to just relax, have a few drinks and catch up on the local scene.

There will be tables and power provided to host some laptops, as well as one projector. If you plan on showcasing during the event please email dan@letsmakegames.org before May 25.

Here are the gritty details:

* Title: Show Us Your Bits: Social Mixer and Game Showcase

* Time/Date: 7:00pm - 10:00pm, Tuesday May 26 2009

* Location: The Brass Monkey - Wine Room, 209 William St, Northbridge

Entry is free, but please note that this is a licensed venue (no entry to persons under 18 years).

And the significant asset is...

2009-04-28 13:36:35.909525

...an idea!

Yes, this time we are using a theme, and the choice of two words out of three, to incorporate into that theme.

Without further ado...

The theme is:

"A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles."

And the three words are:

* Sheep

* Scorched

* Reflection

Please take the theme and interpret it anyway you wish, and try and incorporate two of the three words into your game concept.

Standby for gamejam 1108...

2008-11-12 10:43:36.917881

...another gamejam has been scheduled for November 14-30. Short notice I know. Apologies.

I had hoped to deploy a new version of the gamejam.org interface, but I simply don't have the time. Next year, perhaps.

The Significant Asset is Released!

2008-08-01 03:20:47.062855

After much deliberation and due process, the significant asset has been chosen!

You must include this image, or a variation of it, in your gamejam 0808 games. It doesn't need to be important, it just needs to be present somewhere. You can make a 3D model of it, turn it into vector art, or if you are crazy enough, you could even use it as a random seed for your AI.

gamejam.org update

2008-07-29 16:34:23.382749

Greetings gamejammers!

The gamejam schedule has been adjusted slightly. The jam will start on Friday 1st August with the release of the 'gamejam significant asset'. This will be a piece of art or sound which you should include in your game. We are doing this instead of choosing a theme.

Coding shall then proceed until August 16th, when entries should be uploaded to gamejam.org. Why August 16th? Because on that day the Nullarbor demo party is happening! Hopefully local Perth GameJammers will want to showcase their awesome games at the party!
